The Cricket Season is now in Full Swing
On Friday 14th July year 11-13s took part in a practice match in preparation for their upcoming cricket fixture at South Wilts on 4th July. Although a few key players were missing, the standard was high and the weather held out. Team 1 opened the batting with Zac Tallamy getting off to his usual strong start showing his talent with a bat. Troy Diffey took Ernie Coopers wicket early on thanks to some great wicket keeping from Dellan Long. However, this did not put the batting team on the back foot as Clay Barry and Eldon Diffey came in to combine for 55 runs. Ainsley Gill finally took their wickets, as well as Henry Diffey’s, which set up Team 2 chasing 95 for 5.
Team 2 started slowly and were under pressure from the Team 1 bowlers with Clay Barry’s pace bowling taking Kent Diffey, Haydn Gibbs and Harrison Brown. However, Troy Diffey steadily built up a match high 34 runs pairing well with Dellan Long. Alfie Browning finally took their wickets but Team 2 chipped away until the final over setting up an exciting ending with Team 2 needing 10 runs off the final over. Ainsley Gill proved unstoppable in the closing stages of the game and managed to hit the 1 run needed off the final ball to win the match.
