Students from L5Y wrote their own accounts of their efforts on Wilton Community Day:

On Citizenship Day, L5Y helped the local community by litter picking down The Hollows. The local community were very grateful that we were doing it and one local resident stopped in her car to thank us personally. We fould lots of litter which was piled in the hedges. We found bottles, plastics, tissues, wood and even some socks!

We found a lot of rubbish in the hedges because there wasn’t much rubbish on the road. Also, we found rotten apples on the roadside. There was also a lot of leaves on the roadside which made it quite hard to find the rubbish. A local resident stopped by in her car and thanked us for picking up the litter – on top of this there were a lot of cars that slowed us down from litter picking a bit.”

On Citizenship Day, L5Y helped the local community by litter picking. We litter-picked up to Grovely Woods and down to the end of The Hollows. We found, as a mentor group, squashed cans, wipes tissues, rubbish bags, bottles and mouldy apples! The local community were very thankful for what we had done and a resident stopped and praised us.”

Well done L5Y – you all did a great job!
