On Wednesday 15th February 2017, the students at Wilton organised a charity day for a variety of charities, following visits from the Wiltshire Air Ambulance and the Guide Dogs as part of our enrichment theme this term, ‘Charity and Community’. In their mentor groups, students selected charities to raise money for as well as planning, organising and running the entire day.

There were diverse activities – some students opted for a sponsored silence for the day; others choose to do a 6 mile sponsored walk. One lower school mentor group took part in a shorter sponsored walk and then worked how far they had walked collectively with the aim being to get to Paris! Another lower school group ran a cup stacking competition that was so successful, there will be a house competition later in the term for the lower school! One of the upper school mentor groups ran a blind obstacle course to help students understand how it feels to be blind.

Following the event, the students have reflected and evaluated their success and we look forward to finding out the totals for each charity after they have finished collecting the sponsorship monies for their respective charitable causes.
