On Wednesday 18th October on Citizenship Day, the students of U7G decided to join up with U1R and collect household items such as towels, bedding and dishes for the Burnbake Trust. This is a Wilton-based charity which “provides donated essential household goods, sometimes in emergency situations, to disadvantaged local people.”

The group emailed the whole community asking for donations and when we arrived in school, we laid out the donations in the art room. There were duvets, pillows, saucepans, beds, chairs and many other kindly donated items and two groups of students made an inventory of each item donated. When Mrs Rita Maple, the manager of the Wilton shop arrived we helped to load her van up to the roof and she even ended up with donations piled on the front seat! Finally, we took a photograph with the loaded van and she happily drove away! We are very grateful to those who have donated items and time collecting and delivering for us.
