Last Thursday, our six successful Young Enterprise students, Boyd, Yorke, Orella, Clayton, Connie and Kent headed up to Exchange Place, Warwick for an informative and inspirational seminar based on Young Enterprise. After an awesome breakfast, we listened to many excellent speeches, including Cameron Currie, and the marketing director of Jaguar Land Rover. Stoke-by-Nayland students and Cottingham Campus students both successfully built up a business and won many rewards consequently so were offering us valuable advice.
After a short break, we were split into regions – Wilton being in the West with 9 others schools. Our task was to think of, design and present an app which would solve a problem in people’s lives. After brainstorming we came up with ‘CAPILLUM’ – a revolutionary app which would solve time, styling and consistency issues with haircuts. After a gruelling regional competition and a lunch-time filled with worrying over who the winner was for our region – it was announced – Wilton were the Winners of the WEST!
Then we were given an extra 15 minutes to practice our presentation and lengthen it to 5 rather than 3 minutes. Many prayers, trembles, panic attacks and sweats occurred during that time! 😓😖 Our presentation in front of all schools, teachers, and business advisers went fluently with the audience clearly enthused and interested by our awesome app. We walked away proudly with our 3rd place national reward, £200 and a trophy.
Overall the day was a huge success as Wilton claimed the 1st place for our region and 3rd nationally!
A massive thanks goes to Darrell Brown and Curtis Meek who are our business advisers, for transporting us and providing guidance, help and encouragement! 😊😁 Also, many thanks to Mrs Richards for coming along and keeping us on track throughout the day!
Onwards and upwards!
