With cricket season in full swing and year 11 exams finished, the year 11-13s played a practice match for the upcoming cricket fixture at South Wilts on the 3rd July. Although a few key players were missing due to injury and study leave, the standard remained high. Team 2 opened the batting with Zac Tallamy getting off to great start, showing confidence and finding the gaps in the field, but Riley Humphreys’ pace bowling took Clayton Barry’s wicket early on and put the batting team on the back foot. Dellan Long, Wesley Cooper, Ernie Cooper and Wyatt Tuffin (10) made an impact, but their wickets came fairly quickly, with Zack Aris and Rhys Barter bowling consistently. However, Zac Tallamy proved unstoppable at the crease and survived the innings with 60 not out.
Team 1 had 133 runs to chase and opened strongly, with Connor Dible (24) and Riley Humphreys (11) setting the pace, but George Aris targeted the leg stump and took both wickets. Zack Aris (21) and Zach Dixon (14) proved to be an effective partnership and Rhys Barter chipped in with 10 more runs, but the run rate was not high enough and Team 2 bowling proved to be too much with Clayton Barry having 3 maiden overs and George Aris taking 2 more wickets.
